Grand Canyon National Park,
       Views From the South Rim
No one  can imagine the splendor of the Grand Canyon no matter how many pictures or movies of it they may have seen. Until they stand on the rim and see the Canyon spread out before them they will not have any idea of immensity and grandure that is the Canyon. There is no way they can understand how the first look can take your breath away or make you feel so insignificant. People come from the world over to experience what the Canyon has to offer. If they really think about what they see they can not leave without knowing that the short time we have on this earth is a precious thing. They must also know the value of the Canyon and how man must work to preserve life and the environment in which we live.
To understand what we see we must understand how the Canyon was formed. The Colorado River is the sculptor and the ages old rock is the clay in it's fingers. The river flows, constantly changing the sculpture it is working on, and in the process shows us the past geologic history  of  our world, our home.
Of course other forces of nature also apply their fingers to the sculpture, wind, rain, heat, and ice.
The process is slow but than where's the rush.... The results are spectactular and will last longer than we could know, if we respect the gift we have been given...
The minerals in the rock add their color to the work in progress, adding to the beauty of the project.
The sky adds it's blue veil providing the backdrop above the rim and the clouds sprinkle the veil with jewels of white.
