I saw the fairy alight on a flower, soft as dew,
Like the mist from a shower, as a cloud passed through.
Wings so fragile and sheer, made of gossamer strands,
Nearly crystal clear, held by golden bands.
Like thistledown she floated in the cool evening air,
If my presence she noted she showed not a care.
A princess had appeared so flawless and pure,
As she neared her beauty only part of the allure.
Tiny guardian of natures realm trusting and innocent,
A presence that did overwhelm with joy and excitement.
She feasted on the necture sweet getting each flowers fare,
Till her dining complete and golden pollen crowned her hair.
Than she sat for a time as evening turned to night,
Her appearance sublime such an exquisite sight.
I don't know how much time passed till she rose up to leave,
Though I knew this could not last I felt my heart grieve.
But as she turned to leave she looked my way,
And in my mind I believe I heard her say,
The hour is late now and I must go,
The dangers are great more than you could know,
But believe in me and to me be true,
Then you will see one day I'll return to you.
Keep watch in this glade watch over my flowers,
When the necture is made in the evening hours,
For you I won't tease if what I ask you do,
And on another evenings breeze I'll fly back to you.
So each night now I stand here watching flowers and sky,
Having only one fear that I may never again see her fly.
